Roxik is Masayuki Kido, a Japanese web designer with a great talent to build digital toys.
For some reason when I first came across 'Pictaps', one of his project, I spent less than a minute on it.
Then I saw it published on a few sites and decided to give it another go. And I'm glad I did.
Check it out:

Virtual Earth (Microsoft) doesn't cover so many areas as Google Earth and it doesn't work with Safari yet. However some areas such as London are just so clear with much greater detail than rival Google Earth.

At Instructables people post tutorials on anything and everything.
This has been one of the most inspiring community type website I've ever seen, what a lovely idea.

"A dropspot is a kind of alternative mailbox. It’s a hiding place in a public space, where people can leave things for exchange. Anything. It’s a wierd and wonderful way to add personal character to the streets that we live in. Stash something fun and see what you get back."
I think I would be a bit scared of what to find in a "drop spot".
Imagine you have to put your hand through a hole and someone as put a pile of sh** in there?
I do like the idea though, sweet.

For what I understand designersarewankers.com (the title itself is very wanky!) is some sort of recruitment agency.. and they are asking designers to submit videos using a mobile phone:
"The objective is to sell yourself to an employer/client by illustrating how your services are of benefit to their organisation."
The winner will receive £5,000 and all the entries will be compiled onto DVDs and presented potential employers.

Recently I've been seeing so many good short animations.
Both Rabbit's story and style make it one of my favorites.
"A selection of 1950s educational stickers, found in a provincial junkshop twenty years ago, provide the ingredients for this adult fairytale. When a boy and girl find an idol in the stomach of a rabbit, its magical abilities lead to riches, but for how long?
A modern mystery film of lost innocence, greed and nature"

The fastest Mac ever has finally arrived.
"Running at speeds up to 3GHz, Mac Pro not only completes the Mac transition to Intel processors but delivers advanced performance, workstation graphics, and up to 4.9 million possible configurations."
Owow...

19 days left for Nicktoons Network Animation Festival to begin. The festival's aim is to showcase the best short animations (max. 10minutes) and reveal fresh new talent.
The 2006 selections have already been revealed and the results are going to be announced on the 31st of August - the winner will pocket $10,000!
You can also watch 2005's top ten films - very nice stuff! I especially enjoyed last year's winner "La Revolution des Crabes".
According to Expolis "Nicktoons Network Animation Festival wanted a wildly creative site that would also serve as an information source for participants. Exopolis created an eclectic multi-level universe that takes its cues from motifs as disparate as the levels of Dante's Inferno and quaint puppet theatres."

These animations created by Mantlepies and comissioned by Channel4 are completly mad, silly and non-sense. They are also bloody funny.
Well done to Mr. Wellington and Mr. Peters (the Mantlepies!), loving their work.

WEFAIL the studio once formed by Jordan Stone (sofake.com) and Martin Hughes (martin-h.com) have yet again launched another brilliant website, this time for the band Dixie Chics.
I love WEFAIL, I truly do. Everytime I see a site made by them it just brings me so much inspiration. That makes me happy.
Some people might argue about the functionality of these guys sites. Just put it this way - WEFAIL do not design websites for you to go and find information on it. Some people just don't seem to get it.
WEFAIL create unique interactive experiences where the unexpected shines alongside WEFAIL's unique style. The way they understand interaction, the designs itself and their polished final product with great attention to the smallest and most amazing details is outstanding.
Dixiechics.com is a weird misterious world. Go and explore this little town (?), use the map (GoogleEarth meets SimCity) and unlock places, go to the local radio station, drive a jet-ski (!!!), meet a squirrel and a stick insect(!!!!!), hear what some weird fans have got to say including:
"what's my favourite song? (...) i put all 14 songs on 14 stereos and listent to all of them at the same time..that's how i roll"
It just couldn't get more stupid.
I would love to see a making-of.
More WEFAIL treats:
Eminem
BBDO
Mail Order Chickens
Billy Harvey

Patrick O'Brien is an artist who has had a successful commercial career on TV and the web for various clients with his own brand of darkly humorous and controversial films and animations.
On May 2005, when Patrick was 30 years old, he was officially diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease), a terminal disease that results in the progressive degeneration of the nerves and muscles responsible for voluntary movement. It was then that he decided to embark on his beautifully shot feature length documentary film:
"As evidenced by the film segments on this website I have chosen to do something with my illness. Over the course of 2006 and 2007 I will document my journey with ALS on 35mm motion picture film."
"All of my adult life, I have been making films - films about unconventional characters, stories about vulnerable souls.
(...) I have become the character in the film which I have been striving to bring to the screen all these years."
Anyone will admire Patrick for doing something with his illness. It takes lots of courage, passion and hunger for life to do something like this. I'm sure it will inspire lots of people.

Besides exhibitions and his product line NeeNoon, which he runs with his wife ReneƩ, Ben works with a diverse group of clients developing distinctive projects that range from products and packaging to print and identity.'

I've been following the work of Belgian designer Tom Muller for a while now. Today I was visiting his website to find out that not only there was some good new stuff on it but it had also been redesigned.
What I admire the most about him is his ability to understand and produce both great print and interactive work.

Loco Roco is the main character of this PSP game. On Loco Roco's site you can play a demo version of the game whilst tips of how to play are given to you. I really love the way the screen moves, it makes you feel like you're inside a bubble.
It's aimed at little children (it's for 3+) although I'm pretty sure lots of adults will like it too.

Stockholm's metro has been called the longest art exhibit in the world. Several of the stations are left with the bedrock exposed, crude and unfinished, or as part of the decorations. At the Rissne station, an informative wall fresque about the history of Earth's civilizations runs all along both sides of the platform.
